The short version
- Your allergy and diet profiles, scans and history are stored on your phone. There’s no account, and we can’t see them.
- AllergenLens uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics for anonymous usage and crash data. Which allergens you avoid, your profiles and your scans are never included. It isn’t linked to your identity or used for tracking, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google Play, and RevenueCat checks your purchase status. Neither we nor RevenueCat see your payment details.
- Optional features: UK recall alerts download a public list from the Food Standards Agency and send nothing about you; Ask AI shows you the prompt before you send it to the AI app you choose; shared profiles go phone to phone.
- No ads, and we don’t sell your data.
- This website can use Google Analytics, only if you accept it in the banner.
1. Who we are
AllergenLens is a mobile app developed and published by FightTech (“FightTech”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the AllergenLens app and this website (allergenlens-app.web.app) handle, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us at fighttech.vn@gmail.com or through fighttech.vn.
2. Data stored on your device
Everything you add to AllergenLens — your allergy and diet profile, family profiles and their names, custom ingredients, label photos, the text read from them and the results, your scan history, saved products and travel cards — is stored locally on your phone. Label reading happens on the device. AllergenLens has no account system. We don’t run a server that receives this data, and we can’t see, access or recover it.
- Device backups. Depending on your phone’s settings, app data may be included in your device backups (such as iCloud Backup or a computer backup). Those backups are handled by Apple, Google or your computer, under their own terms.
- Travel cards. If you export a travel card as an image or PDF, AllergenLens creates the file on your phone and you choose where to save or share it. Any copy you share is then handled by the app, service or person you chose.
3. Camera and photos
AllergenLens asks for camera access so it can read labels. Photos are imported from your library only when you pick them. AllergenLens doesn’t use your location. You can change camera and photo access at any time in your phone’s Settings.
4. Health information
Allergies, intolerances and diets are health-related information, and we treat them that way. Your profiles stay on your phone unless you share one yourself (see Sharing a profile): they aren’t sent to us, to Google or to RevenueCat, and they aren’t used for analytics or advertising. If you add family members, their details stay on your phone too.
5. Features that reach outside AllergenLens
A few features you choose to use involve the internet or another app. None of them sends your profiles to us.
UK allergy recall alerts
Recall alerts are off until you turn them on in Settings. When they are on, AllergenLens downloads the public list of allergy alerts from the UK Food Standards Agency at data.food.gov.uk when you open the app and from time to time in the background. The request is the same for everyone: it contains nothing about you, your profiles, scans or saved products. As with any web request, the Food Standards Agency’s servers see your IP address. The alerts are matched to your profiles and saved products on your phone, and the downloaded list is kept on your phone. When recall alerts are off, AllergenLens makes no request for them. Alert information is from the Food Standards Agency, used under the Open Government Licence.
Explain in plain words (Apple Intelligence)
On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, you can ask for a plain-words explanation of a match. It is written by Apple’s on-device model on your phone: the ingredient text and the explanation aren’t sent to us or to Apple’s servers by AllergenLens.
Ask AI
Ask AI shows you a prompt before anything leaves AllergenLens. It contains only the ingredient text as read and the allergens the result names, never your name, profile names, severities, notes or photos. If you choose to continue, the prompt is copied or handed to the AI app or website you pick (for example ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini). That service then handles it under its own privacy policy. AllergenLens isn’t affiliated with those services and receives nothing back.
Sharing a profile
You can share a profile as a file, a QR code or a PDF summary. The file and QR code contain the profile’s name, the allergens and diets it avoids with how strongly, and its own ingredients; never scans, photos, history or notes. They go directly from your phone through the share sheet, AirDrop or a camera, not through any server of ours. Whoever receives a profile can keep it, so share it only with people you trust. Imported profiles are stored on the receiving phone like any other profile.
6. Analytics and crash reports
To understand how AllergenLens is used and to fix problems, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google. They may collect:
- Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate country or region.
- Anonymous identifiers, such as an app instance ID generated by Firebase. These aren’t linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account.
- Usage events, such as which screens are opened and which features are used, and when the app is opened.
- General settings (sent as user properties), such as whether you have Plus and which plan, the accent color and app icon you chose, whether a widget is added, the week the app was installed, the version of the built-in word list, and rough ranges for how many profiles you have and how many allergens, diets and ingredients they avoid in total (for example “3-5”), never which ones.
- Crash logs, such as the stack trace and basic device state at the moment of a crash.
- Non-fatal error reports when something goes wrong without crashing, such as a photo that couldn’t be read or a file that couldn’t be saved. These contain only an error code and a fixed label for where it happened, never file names, messages or content.
What is never sent: which allergens, intolerances, diets or ingredients you or your family avoid, the contents of your profiles (names, severities, notes), label photos, label text, barcodes, product names, results, allergy cards or anything else you enter. Your profiles and their contents aren’t sent to analytics.
This data isn’t linked to your identity, isn’t used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and isn’t used for advertising.
You can turn it off. In AllergenLens, open Settings and switch off Share anonymous usage. Analytics and crash reporting stop on that phone until you switch it back on.
Google processes this information on our behalf and may do so on servers in the United States and other countries. You can learn more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
7. When you contact us
If you email us — for example to ask for help or send feedback — we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach or include (such as your device model or app version). We use this only to reply to you and to improve AllergenLens, and keep it only as long as needed for that. Please don’t send passwords, card numbers or other sensitive details.
8. Purchases
AllergenLens Plus subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, depending on where you got the app. We don’t receive your name, Apple ID, Google account or payment details. The app receives your purchase status from the store — for example, which plan is active and when it renews — so it can unlock paid features. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
To check purchases and restore them on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives the store transaction details for your purchase, a random app user ID created by the app, and basic device and app information such as operating system version, app version and store country. It doesn’t receive your name, email, payment details or anything you enter in the app. RevenueCat processes this on our behalf; see the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
9. This website
allergenlens-app.web.app is a static website hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Like most web hosts, the hosting provider may log technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver and protect the site. The site loads the Inter font from Google Fonts.
Website analytics
This website (not the app) can use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and guides are useful. It runs in Google Consent Mode: analytics cookies are off until you choose Accept in the banner, and advertising storage, ad personalization and Google signals are always off. When you accept, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies (such as _ga) and collect the pages you view, the page that referred you, clicks on the App Store, Google Play and email links, approximate location derived from your IP address (IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4), and browser, device and language information. Before you choose, or if you decline, Google may receive cookieless pings without analytics identifiers so that visits can be counted in aggregate.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (key ft.analytics.consent). You can change it at any time with the button below, by clearing this site’s data in your browser, or with Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Google processes this data on our behalf; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. The website has no advertising.
10. How we use information
- To keep AllergenLens working and fix crashes and bugs.
- To understand which features are useful, so we can improve the app.
- To reply to your messages.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply.
12. Retention and deletion
- On your phone. Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. To delete everything at once, open Settings in AllergenLens and tap Erase all data. This removes every profile, scan, saved product and travel card from your phone and can’t be undone. Deleting the app has the same effect.
- Backups. Copies in device backups remain until those backups are replaced or deleted.
- Analytics and crash data is kept according to Firebase’s retention settings and then deleted automatically. It can’t be linked back to you, so we can’t look it up by name or email.
- Emails are kept only as long as needed to help you. You can ask us to delete them.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat as needed to confirm and restore purchases and to meet legal requirements.
13. Children
AllergenLens is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it. A parent or guardian may add a child’s allergies to a family profile; that information stays on the parent’s phone and is never sent to us.
14. Your choices and rights
- Turn off anonymous usage and crash reporting at any time in AllergenLens’s Settings.
- Change camera and photo access at any time in your phone’s Settings.
- Delete everything AllergenLens stores with Erase all data in Settings, or by deleting the app.
- Depending on where you live (for example in California, the United Kingdom or the European Union), data protection laws may give you the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to its use. Because we don’t hold the data you enter in the app, most requests will concern emails you’ve sent us — write to fighttech.vn@gmail.com and we’ll help.
15. Security
Because your data stays on your phone, it benefits from your phone’s built-in security, including your device passcode. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect the limited information we handle.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we’ll give notice on this page or in the app.
